Dance
Legally Blonde features lots of fun dance, but most uniquely includes a number entirely consisting of jump rope dancing. Because of this, we will be having 2 separate audition dances. One is the required dance that everyone must learn and perform at the time of their audition, and the other is a jump rope dance that is optional for those who wish to be considered for a jump rope role (Brooke Wyndham, or a jump rope featured dancer). We are not doing this number in the traditional way where it is only women. So women, men, non-binary folk and everyone in-between are encouraged to audition to be a jump rope featured dancer!
Videos of the choreographer doing both the required audition dance and optional jump rope audition dance at full speed and breaking it down can be found at the links below. Learning the dances or viewing these videos prior to auditions is not required but very strongly encouraged! These dances will also be taught and run through by the choreographer starting one hour prior to auditions, and then will be taught and run through repeatedly throughout both nights by trained dance assistants. The required dance will be taught on the first floor, and the optional jump rope dance will be taught on the 2nd floor. There will be some jump ropes available to use at the time of auditions but you are absolutely welcome and encouraged to bring your own. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you can dance and jump rope in.
-
Optional Jump Rope Audition Dance - Full Speed (required for Brooke Wyndham and jump rope dancers)
-
Optional Jump Rope Audition Dance - Break Down (required for Brooke Wyndham and jump rope dancers)
In addition, all those auditioning will be asked on their audition form if they can do any dance spins (such as Fouettes, 3+ Pirouette spins, etc.), body stretches or contortions (such as splits, back bends, etc.), any dance leaps (Split “Switch” Leap, Calypso leap, Toe-Touch Leap, etc.), any other interesting dance talents, or any jump rope tricks. You WILL be asked to demonstrate any listed special talents at the time of your audition, so don’t forget to stretch! If you cannot do any of the above, do not fear, you will still be considered for roles in the show.
Acting
