DANCE
Videos of the choreographer doing the dance at full speed can be found at the links below. Learning the dances or viewing the videos is not required but strongly encouraged! The dance will also be taught and run through starting one hour prior to auditions. If you are submitting a video, we ask you to try your best and if you want to include a dance reel as there is not a formal breakdown you can.
In addition, all those auditioning will be asked on their audition form if they can do any dance spins (such as Fouettes, 3+ Pirouette spins, etc.), body stretches or contortions (such as splits, back bends, etc.), any dance leaps (Split “Switch” Leap, Calypso leap, Toe-Touch Leap, etc.), any other interesting dance talents, or any jump rope tricks. You WILL be asked to demonstrate any listed special talents at the time of your audition, so don’t forget to stretch! If you cannot do any of the above, do not fear, you will still be considered for roles in the show.
MUSIC
32 bars either from Avenue Q or a similar style musical. Either a capella or with backtrack.
ACTING
Please note - There will be NO SPOKEN MONOLOGUES; please act while you sing. Also no prior puppeting experience needed. Workshops with experts will be provided. Script work will occur during callbacks.
REHEARSALS
- First rehearsal is Sunday June 15 at 6:30PM
- Rehearsals are Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday at Actorsingers Hall
- Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-9:30PM
- Sundays 6:00 - 10pm
- Tech week runs from Sunday August 17 to Thursday August 21.
- There is a mandatory pick-up rehearsal Wednesday August 26 starting at 6:30PM.
- Conflicts can be communicated in the AUDITION REGISTRATION FORM
SHOW INFORMATION
- Performance Venue is Court Street Theatre 14 Court Street, Nashua, NH 03060
- Show dates are Friday August 22, Saturday August 23, Sunday August 24, Friday August 29, Saturday August 30, and Sunday August 31 with a mandatory strike following Sunday's performance.
CHARACTERS
Puppet Characters
Puppet Characters ages are an indication of the puppet age in the show. Not necessarily the
age or gender identification of the actual puppeteer.
Princeton (early 20’s)
One rod puppet.
A fresh-faced kid just out of college. He is looking for his “purpose” in life and is pursuing a
career, love and life satisfaction. He is a little naïve to the realities of life, as most people
are at that age.
Bb2 – G4
Tenor
Kate Monster (mid 20’s)
One rod puppet.
A kindergarten teaching assistant, a bit older than Princeton. She is kind, considerate but
can have a feisty side.
F#3 – F5
Soprano (Mezzo)
Nicky (20’s)
Live hands puppet.
A bit of a slacker, who lives with Rod. They are best friends but have a fiery relationship and
can often be found arguing.
B2 – B4
Tenor
Rod (20’s/30’s)
Two rod puppet.
A Republican investment banker with a secret…he is struggling with coming to terms with
his homosexuality. He comes out over the course of the show.
A2 – G4
Tenor
Trekkie Monster (20’s/30’s)
Live hands puppet.
A reclusive creature obsessed with the Internet. Although he appears abrupt and rude, a
sensitive side is revealed during the show. He has a “Cookie Monster” growl to his voice
which would need to be maintained.
Bb2 – F#4
Baritone
Lucy (20’s/30’s)
Two rod puppet.
A vixenish vamp with a dangerous edge. She has starred in “Girls Gone Wild: Parts 2, 5 and
7”. During the show she seduces Princeton which causes a showdown with Kate.
F3 – D5
Alto (Belt)
The Bad Idea Bears (1 x Male, 1 x Female)
Two rod puppets.
Two snuggly, cute teddy-bear types who convince people to do bad things!!
Male – Baritone
Female - Mezzo
Mrs T. (Ancient) (Or Person played)
Live hands puppet.
Kate’s boss. She is cranky and bossy.
Human Characters
Brian (early 30’s)
A laid-back guy married to Christmas Eve. Unemployed but dreams of becoming a famous ‘smutty’ comedian.
B2 – F#4
Baritone
Christmas Eve (20’s/30’s/40’s)
A therapist who has moved here from Japan. Headstrong person who calls the shots. Actorsingers is seeking an Asian American performer with strong comedic timing of any gender presentation for the role.
Gender diverse performers are encouraged to apply.

Soprano
Gary Coleman
Yes, that Gary Coleman. He lives on the Avenue, too! He’s the superintendent. He is a washed up Z-list celebrity who has had a public personal life.
We are seeking a black performer of any gender presentation for the role.

D2 – Bb4/D3 – Bb5*
Tenor/Alto (Belt)
*Main range alto, top Bb appears once as part of a riff
There are also smaller characters which can be doubled up with the actors who are secondhanding, as well as room for a small ensemble.
