A Note from the Director
Welcome to School of Rock: The Musical!
If there's one thing I've learned while directing this show, it's that we spend a lot of our lives being told who we should be.
We're told how to act, what success looks like, what boxes we fit into, and what paths we're supposed to follow. Sometimes, without even realizing it, we start editing ourselves to meet other people's expectations.
School of Rock reminds us that the magic happens when we stop trying to fit into someone else's mold and start embracing who we truly are.
Over the past few months, I've had the privilege of watching these young performers do exactly that. I've watched them take risks, try new things, make mistakes, gain confidence, and discover strengths they didn't know they had. They've learned that being different isn't something to hide, it's often the very thing that makes you extraordinary.
What makes me most proud isn't the music, the choreography, or even the performances you'll see on this stage tonight. It's the way this cast has supported one another, celebrated each other's successes, and created a space where everyone belongs exactly as they are.
In a world that often pressures us to conform, that's a pretty powerful lesson.
To our incredible music director, choreographer/ instrument coach, stage manager, production team, volunteers, and families, thank you for your endless support, patience, and encouragement. This production would not be possible without you.
And to our audience, thank you for being here and supporting live theatre. We hope this show reminds you of something we all need to hear from time to time: your greatest strength isn't becoming who others expect you to be, it's having the courage to be yourself.
Because when you do, you're capable of so much more than you ever imagined.
The beauty of School of Rock is that nobody has to earn their place by being perfect. They belong because they show up as themselves. Their differences aren't weaknesses, they're what make the band stronger.
That's true on this stage, and it's true in life. So whatever your stage may be, whatever dreams you're chasing, and whatever makes you uniquely you, don't hide it. Turn it up.
Because there's a place for you.
You're in the band.
