Penny Award Winner

Shirley Coutu

The Recipient of this year’s award is most deserving. Shirley has been
a member of Actorsingers for several years and in that time has had an
effect on the structure of the organization itself. One of her contributions
was the creation of our recently implemented subscriber program. This allows
our audience to purchase their tickets yearly at a discount price for reserved
seats of their choice for as long as they remain subscribers. The work she
is best known for is in our costume department. She has either been our designer
or served on the costume committee for most of the shows in the past few years.
As Production Coordinator for 2 shows, Audition Board Chairman for 4 shows and
member of the Board of Directors now in her 4th year; countless parties, errands
and phone calls, we salute Shirley Coutu. Our sincerest thanks. You deserve
a standing ovation.

From the Director…

The best part of “Anything Goes” is Cole Porter’s score. Cole Porter’s songs
are that rare combination of sophistication and simplicity, clever lyrics and
haunting melodies, witty words and hummable tunes. Tied into the score are
comedic characters brought on board the SS American and dazzling dance numbers
which make a wonderful show done by a community theater group. Tonight we will
see thirty seven talented and dedicated actors who have put a lot of time and
energy into making the best in community theater. I applaud them for their
commitment and dedication. I am also indebted to our production staff for
their creativity, dedication and for making my concept of this show work.
I am also thankful to the Board of Directors for the opportunity of sharing
my talents and bringing them to the stage.

As an audience member tonight, I hope you enjoy a funny, toe-tapping journey
with Nashua’s best musical community theater group as we take you aboard the
SS American for fun and romance, because…

“Anything Goes!”

Sincerely,

Mark C. Hand, Director
