Cheryl Stocks writes:

There will be 3 performance sessions at NHCTA festival this year. They are Sat Sept 25 starting at 1:00 pm, Sat evening starting at ??? [Amy, did you write down the time for this one?], and Sun Sept 26 starting at 1:00 pm. The performance slot for Heights is the 3rd show in the Sunday, Sept 26 afternoon session that starts at 1:00 pm. As you know, we do not get a specific starting time, and once our performance has started, the doors are locked and audience may not enter. So the safest way to be sure of seeing the show is to arrive by 1:00 pm and watch all the shows in that session. Also, they are changing the format for adjudication this year - all shows in a session will be adjudicated by the 3 adjudicators as a panel after the session is complete. Our session consists of 4 shows. The 2 Saturday sessions are 3 shows apiece.

We will also hold an open dress rehearsal at the hall on Thur, Sept 23. Note that Heights is approximately R-rated (language, subject matter).

Director Amy Friedman reports:

"Although we did not take home any trophies, we still fared well in recognition at the awards ceremony. The awards were like the NH Theatre Awards in that they had trophies for all the major categories and picked finalists in each category and gave the award to the winner.

We were top 3 finalists in 4 categories:

Best Ensemble
Best Director
Best Actress - Gina Carbello
Best Costumes

The Festival Winner was Arlington Friends of the Drama with How I Learned to Drive

Pat [Lawrence] was in another show, the musical The Mistress Cycle with Harvard Community Theatre, which took home awards for Best Ensemble, Best Director, Best Lighting, Best Costumes and Best Makeup/Hair. I forgot to write it down but I think Pat was a finalist for Best Actress, she was great!

All four Actors in Nashua Theatre Guild's Dinner With Friends were finalists for acting awards and Craig Ciampa, who played Gabe, won for Best Actor."

After the Regional Festival, Vital Signs was presented again in Nashua on V-Day (April 4, 2009)
at the Janice B. Streeter Theatre, Court Street in Nashua
as part of a fundraiser for
Bridges Domestic and Sexual Violence Support.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly was named first runner up at the New Hampshire Community Theatre Association Festival. Ghostlight Theatre's production of One Flea Spare came in first and Milford Area Player's Production of I Hate Hamlet came in second. Those two plays will be representing NH in the New England Regional Theatre Festival in Concord in March. If either production cannot compete, we are next in line to compete in the regional festival.

Actorsingers won all of the technical awards at the festival. We won awards for Excellence in Sound, Excellence in Lighting, and Excellence in Costume Design. Josh Friedman was the sound engineer, Craig Brennan designed the lights and Amy Friedman and Sherry Thompson designed the costumes. The sets, designed by Amy Friedman and built and painted single handedly by Tom Ritrovato also received praise from the judges.
